Recognizing the need to preserve the quality of life in our growing urban community, I will protect Hayward by reinforcing our excellent safety and emergency services, supporting our city outreach programs, especially home ownership, and explore various crime prevention strategies.

I will lead Hayward into the future assuring its vitality, honoring its uniqueness, and strengthening the community.
I believe Hayward has a responsibility to provide every citizen complete access to all of the resources and services in our neighborhoods. I will work to make sure that every citizen is educated, employed and healthy, empowering them to actively participate in civic affairs.
I am your best choice for city council because of my 22 years as a Hayward resident homeowner, businessman, and educator. I have been involved in community advocacy, volunteerism, and service as a Planning and Library Commissioner in Hayward. Vote Zermeño for Hayward, Heart of the Bay!

Hello. My name is Francisco Zermeño and I am a candidate for Hayward's City Council. There are 4 open seats, 3 incumbents, and 13 candidates.
I am a Democrat and a Union member. I have held every possible position in my Union. As a Democrat, I am a member of the Hayward Demos, the Vice President of the Greater Hayward Demos, and a founding member, Vice President and the Newsletter Editor of CALDO, the Chicano/Latino Demos of Southern Alameda County. Copies of our first Newsletter and CALDO membership forms are available. I invite you to join us, we are inclusive and as diverse in membership as is Hayward.
I have been an educator at Chabot College for 25 years, a small business owner, with my wife, for 18 years, was a Library Commissioner for one year, and presently, I am the Chair of the Planning Commission.
I am Mexican by birth, a U.S. citizen Democrat by choice, and this year is special for me, because it marks my 40th anniversary in the United States, all in California.
I am a Candidate because I feel that more CAN be done in Hayward for the enhancement of our small businesses, our Downtown, our auto row, our schools, our Latino community, and especially our housing needs, where recently we were given bad grades by the Bay Area Council.
My message to Hayward voters is "Protect, Improve and Preserve Our Neighborhoods, leading to easier access to all Hayward opportunities."
Protection is important, because, if citizens, students and businesses feel protected well, they will improve their quality of life, their education, and the economy of our city. This will empower people, create good leaders for our future, and strengthen the local economy, leading to improvement and pride in our city.
Thus far, I have been endorsed by many individuals and by the CALDO, Rental Housing Owner's Association, the Chamber of Commerce and many individuals.
With that, if you have any questions, I can answer them via email, or give me a call. Also, visit me on www.smartvoter.org!
Vote Zermeño for Hayward, Heart of the Bay!
